We should be looking at Prevention, not Punishment! Felons are more likely to be between the ages of 18 and 34 unemployed, have a low income, and lack a high school diploma than the general population. Looking at the statistics, we need to help our youth and point them in the right direction. Education is cheaper than Prison. What is the difference between Bankruptcy and a Felony? A Bankruptcy disappears after Seven Years; a Felony Haunts you for Life!
I received my Cross Country Solo Pilot License February 9 1969 Call me slow but I just realized something working on this web page! In the late 60s, I was stationed at the Naval Air Force base in San Diego California, and Passed my Cross-Country solo pilot's license at Brown Field in Southern California. The aerial map I used for navigation had roads and airports on it, no borders. To my amazement, Brown Field is less than 1 1/2 miles from the Mexican border and 10 miles from Tijuana. After looking at the map of the area, if I repeated the same flight paths today as I did in 1969, I would be arrested. |
